David Warburton CEO of Auckland Transport
Dr David Warburton holds the position of Interim Chief Executive for Auckland Transport. David commenced in this role on 1 November 2010 for a fixed term until 30 June 2012. Prior to his commencement with Auckland Transport, David was the Chief Executive for CPG NZ & Australia, prior to that Chief Executive of Wanganui District Council and he still serves on the Whanganui District Health Board. David has a PhD in environmental engineering from Massey University and, following over a decade lecturing at Massey and University of Illinois, has held numerous senior management roles in a number of industries including Forestry, Processing, Packaging, Property Development and Retail. In addition, David has established, owned and operated his own businesses and has thus had the benefit of seeing the economy from an owner operator, corporate manager, international business and local government perspective. David lives in Auckland and is married with three adult children.
Julie Anne Genter
Julie Anne Genter is a transportation planner at MRCagney. She will discuss the incredible opportunity to create economically thriving and environmentally sustainable towns and cities through a new approach to transport, town planning and parking management. Julie Anne is originally from Los Angeles, one of the urban environments most blighted by empty carparks, six lane arterials and traffic congestion in North America. She graduated from UC Berkeley with highest honours and then spent several years in France before settling in Aotearoa New Zealand. She specialised in transportation planning as a scholar at the University of Auckland. As a consultant for McCormick Rankin Cagney, her professional experience has centred on ground-breaking research into the economic evaluation of transport projects, and she has assisted numerous cities in New Zealand and Australia to develop strategic parking strategies and implement the new parking management paradigm.
Joshua Arbury
Joshua Arbury is a Consultant Planner. He is a recent graduate from Auckland University with an MA (First Class Honours) in Geography. His postgraduate studies focused on Auckland’s urban growth management strategies (thesis topic), population studies, health geography, urban planning and design, as well as environmental management. Joshua’s particular interest in this field is based around the implementation of urban growth management strategies and the influence of New Urbanism, compact city policies and urban design on the future development of cities. He runs a transport blog and is a board member of the Campaign for Better Transport.
