This year Engineering New Zealand honoured Ron McDowall as a Distinguished Fellow.
Ron McDowall was a formative leader of The Sustainability Society and a Committee member from its inception in 2003 until 2013. Throughout his career Ron has lead towards sustainability outcomes from early complexity engineering techniques in the power industry to courageous missions around the world to remediate intractable toxic chemical sites, and including extensive teaching of sustainability and futures thinking to generations of students. Ron’s generosity for civic outcomes, passion for complexity and strong sustainability ethics have made him a shining example for sustainability professionals and The Sustainability Society wishes to congratulate him and wish the best for his Distinguished Fellowship which is well deserved.
